About Joseph
Artist statment
My work is rooted in a lifelong relationship with creativity. from childhood skits performed with my siblings to years of drawing, music, and quiet observation. Art has always been the place where i feel most aligned, most capable, and most connected to what I'm meant to do. After decades of life experience, personal development, and spiritual exploration, I've returned to fine art with intention to create at the highest level I can and to share that work with the world.
My practice centers on three bodies of work:
Uwezo - a symbol and a concept representing infinite possibility. Born from an intuitive mark I made decades ago, Uwezo reflects the idea that potential is always present, always emerging. It is the sculptural core of my artistic identity and the foundation for future expansions into design, lifestyle objects, and line extensions. It was my daughter who encouraged me to re-explore this symbol which I had no name for until I began to work with it with passion again.
Thank You - a series shaped by gratitude as an emotional force. These works explore how appreciation can lift us from low states, recalibrate our vibration, and reconnect us to clarity. Gratitude is not just a feeling; it is a tool, and this series serves as a visual reminder of its power.
Roots - a memory driven exploration of the places, moments, and experiences that shaped me. Rather than focusing on cultural labels, Roots draws from lived experience and childhood impressions, family life, early creativity, and the environments, that formed my worldview. Some pieces are influenced by my Creole heritage, but the heart of the series is personal memory.
Together, these series form a complete expression of who I am: possibility, gratitude, and origin. My goal as an artist is to create work that resonates emotionally, invites reflection, and offers viewers a sense of connection to their own potential. Art is not just something I do, it is the path I was meant to walk, and I'm committed to pursuing it with purpose, discipline, and openness.
