UWEZO - Nuru

The Uwezo mark appears here in its most essential and unadorned form - built up from the canvas in raised plaster and texture past, pure white against a field of deep ultramarine blue that seems to hold both ocean and sky simultaneously.  There is no color to interpret, no palette to navigate.  There is only the mark and the depth it emerges from - form and ground, light and blue, the oldest visual conversation there is. 

The deep edge canvas means Nuru extends into the room - it is not simply a painting on a wall but a presence in space, a low relief sculpture that casts actual shadow and catches actual light and changes with the hour the way no flat surface can.  It is the most three-dimensional work in the Uwezo series and the most serene.  

Living with Nuru

Nuru is the most quietly commanding piece in the Uwezo series.  It's raised white form shifts throughout the day as the light changes.  The deep ultramarine and cobalt blue ground makes it versatile across a wide range of interiors - it reads as contemporary against white or grey walls, as rich and jewel-like against warm tones, and as genuinely extraordinary against a terracotta wall.  It pairs naturally with brushed metals, natural linen, and dark woods.
